Archives: Early Baseball Photographs
These photos were taken in the late 1800's and capture the infancy of American Baseball. The Philadelphia A's (Athletics) are featured in a series of action poses, and considering the time period, they are relatively groundbreaking. This is merely a selection from the wonderful Albert. G. Spalding Collection of Early Baseball Photographs entitled, “America’s National Game“. It's certainly fascinating to take a look back, and imagine how groundbreaking this new sport would have been to Victorian America.
