Feline & Fauna by, Stephen Eichhorn

These cat collages are the work of Stephen Eichhorn, a Chicago-based artist. He culls the background imagery from cat books, both vintage and modern, that specialize in a certain brand of portraiture. The elements of fauna, Eichhorn painstakingly trims with his exact-o knife to fit with his subject. The juxtapose of the subject matter and traditional composition force the viewer to re-imagine the convention of the portrait.
